The city strongly resembled European cities with high-rise buildings, parks, and greenery. In some places, it reminded me of Moscow or the center of Rostov, but it predominantly featured red brick buildings.
If you look at the map of Massachusetts, the eastern part of the state resembles a Turkish shoe with a high curved toe. This is Cape Cod.
On the first day of our stay, we were taken on a trip to a nearby farm to pick apples and pears. The weather was wonderful; it was a warm autumn day. There were many school buses at the farm filled with young children.
We had a pipe burst in the laundry, and it flooded the kitchen a bit. I was home alone, ran outside to turn off the valve, but I couldn’t turn it.
When I first arrived, I looked at everything with wide-open eyes. Now, I’ve grown used to the everyday things. But still, the adaptation process is endless for someone born and raised in another country.
It’s very rare to see children of the same age as Mark walking alone on the street. Kids are brought to school an hour before classes start, and they socialize. They interact when they are picked up after school.
My children actually bought me a bicycle. On Friday, they went to the store for jeans (maybe that was an excuse), and they came back without jeans but with a bicycle. Now, in the evenings when Mark doesn’t have practice, they’re torturing him with a healthy lifestyle
Some people believe that modern children are not interested in the books we grew up with, our old cartoons. Yes, there are many books and films that are ideologically outdated, but there are also classic old, good films and cartoons.
In America, people spend most of their time driving. Therefore, in my opinion, hiking is almost a cult here. People are willing to travel great distances just to wander in the mountains.
We really enjoyed the state of Colorado. At the entrance, there was a sign: “Welcome to the Colorful State of Colorado”. And it truly was colorful. At first, the mountains had little vegetation, with a mix of greenish-blue hues like copper sulfate.
